3D Studio Art



To-do-list:
  1. Finalize concepts for the carving project with Mr Tay and start on the prep work in clay. For those who have yet to get their block of plaster, please remember to get a big enough box to use as a mold.
P.S. Uh, as mentioned before, those who have yet to pay the ten dollars, please do so asap. Thanks once more.

P.P.S You can also collect your ceremics project from the ceremics studio at 1st floor.

Basic Anatomy & Figure Drawing


Note: We did life drawing for this session, so those who didn't come, please check with someone else about the poses required to draw.

Things to bring next lesson:
  • A3 drawing paper
  • Drawing materials

2D Studio Art


To-do-list:
  1. Do an abstract painting of the still life in the classroom (A2 size). Note that abstract doesn't mean unrecognizable, it just don't have to be realistic. Also remember to have at least 8-9 different tones for your final piece. You're advised to have textures and a few layers of paint at least.
Things to bring next lesson: 
  • Painting materials, A2 canvas paper

EZ-Link Card replacement

Please note that you're required to change your old ez-link card due to changes. You could collect the new card at the student office at Level 2.

If there's any remaining cash in your old card, you're able to transfer them over on Thursday where SBS staff will head over to NAFA at the foyer, from 9am to 5pm.

  1. Complete your sculpture.
  2. Prepare sketches for the next project - carving. It's recommended that you choose abstract forms to carve. You can refer to Isamu Noguchi or Henry Moore for inspirations.
P.S. To those who missed today's lesson, please also find Alvin with regards to the glazing of your ceramics project.

Basic Anatomy & Figure Sketching


To-do-list:
  1. Make a college with 20 figures. (You can choose to cut out from magazines, newspaper or even printout from the internet.) Remember to stick them on A3 size paper (more than one piece is allowed.)
  2. Then draw out the skeleton of the figures onto another piece of paper. You can choose to do so on a piece of tracing paper instead.
  3. Afterward, please proceed on to draw out the 3D form of the skeleton on another piece of paper.

To-do-list:
  1. Experiment with various painting techniques and colour schemes on A4 paper.
  2. Then compose the final painting on the canvas pad.
Note: The studies must be shown along with the final to Miguel.

Things to be brought by next lesson:
  • Bring your paint supplies + drawing paper (min. A4 size)

Holiday Homework

Okay, as requested by Jason, here's the list of assignements to be completed by the end of tutorial break, which is 16th March.


You're to finish:
  1. The A3 drawing of the arm / leg plaster cast. (Basic Anatomy & Figure Sketching)
  2. The collage of Bencoolen Street (2D Studio Art)
  3. 5 digital montages (Digital Art & Design)
  4. History essay, 500 words min.  (the questions are given to you, just choose one will do) and history presentation (it's due 2 weeks after tutorial break)
  5. A3 outdoor painting of Fort Canning Park (any spot will do)
  6. Your IIIA essay first draft 

Note, those who have yet to complete their plaster cast of their sculpture, please do return tomorrow at 3pm to complete your work.
